Surfrider Miami is launching a year-long petition drive to give voters the right to ban oil drilling in Florida territorial waters.

I have been surfing the east coast of Florida all the way from Jacksonville to Southbeach for over 10 years. I plan on continuing my beloved sport and this oil disaster breaks my heart, not only because it will affect my safety in the water but because the wildlife in our oceans is being taken advantage of. We need to respect nature and the way it works, at 21 years of age I ask myself if this will only get worse if the oil companies do not take this seriously.
